this is how they become the water that sink their boats

this is how they become the water that sink their boats everyone was happy, she was the only sad one, a stroll to the market no negotiation needed she bought, made a knot and dangled lifeless before dawn loved ones had to untie both ends of the rope and live with the tragedy he can't trace the source of his sadness none could tell why he yells all night and slap the walls of his room "he kills mosquitoes all night" gossips the neighborhood but he is haunted by the trauma of yesterdays and none would reach out and touch his trembling hands so he pulled the trigger of his sniper and laid silently still beneath his duvet listening as the voices in his head slowly fade away with his last breathe. #SniperNoBeWine #WeShallFindJoy #Pengician #SSA Enjoyed reading? mma nwanyi

mma nwanyi mma nwanyi is not in her apparel, in her voluptuousness, or the way she makes her hair, it's in imagery of her poems mma nwanyi is not in the winks of her eyes, or in the wiggles of her hips, mma nwanyi  is found in the chambers of her heart therein resides subliminal bliss mma nwanyi is not in her artificial lashes or the symphony of her accent of the ingenuity of her Instagram filters: it is found in patience of her caring, in the sacrifice of her giving, in the passion of her loving in the dept of her writing Glossary: mma nwanyi (Igbo): 'the beauty of a woman' #Pengician #SSA Enjoyed reading? Racism Is Madness

Racism Is Madness No sane earthling judges a car by the colour of it's body but by the durability of it's engine and whatever specs that lies in the inside and powers the car.  Humans are like cars, Lexus jeeps of different colour shades. Some black, some blue, some white, some ash, some a mix of this and that.  You're white, I'm black. He's Asian, I'm Ethiopian, they are Indians and they are Europeans... same cars with different colour shades. Why make the coloured feel less human because white adorns your skin?  No sane man does that!  In the inside, we are all the same! Racism is a madness. Until we see the evil that lurks behind the veil of racism, tear down the veil and let the beauty of variety illuminate our closed minds, there can be no cure. We will not be whole as a planet, as continents, as a nation, as people, until we recover from the madness that would render any child, woman, or man anything less than human. #Pengician #SSA Enjoyed reading? Coffee

her lips tastes like coffee it's in how the taste of coffee lingers on my lips whenever she pouts, that draw me into her tulips like a butterfly craving nectar it's in how she holds my hands, whenever mine clasps hers, her long ebony fingers nestled in the fair warmth of mine, that makes us blend like milk drops in a cup of coffee black, when lips locks it's in how we moonwalk back and forth on the wings of creamy bliss, savoring the bitter sweet of our heat that flushes hues of gold and scarlet that makes every sip a trip to the moon and back it's in how time takes a break and reality fades away, with every gulp drowned out by the bubbling of a stream of coffee hot that reminds me of Solomon's songs her lips tastes like coffee, thought I should let you know #Pengician #SSA Enjoyed reading? The Circle of Life | Stefn Sylvester Anyatonwu

POEM 323: THE CIRCLE OF LIFE chickens still wait for corn by the door of my granny's kitchen, where sun once rose with a daughter in skin of gold, and set with a son, with silvery dreams little girls still dance in twilight, clad in the nakedness of innocence, their chests bare, where breasts ought to be, their scarves wild, flowing in the wind and their voices climb palm trees, in a bid to beat the boys to their dreams. little boys form a group of toughlings flooring the other in smart fast moves, wrestling for fun, and raising dead dusts, dusts of their forebears, who warred, and set boundaries they'd grow up to meet: and then forget unwritten bro codes, forge new laws and grow cold, act brave and grow old... watch dreams fade into the dark and the song of wasted years punctuated with short sighs shall form a new language that tumble down our throats, tasting strange, yet worth the dirge after all adieu is the song, and the circle goes on, life #365DaysOfPoetry #Pengician #S...

For Ese, Ochanya And Others We'd Never Know | Stefn Sylvester Anyatonwu

POEM 306: FOR ESE, OCHANYA AND OTHERS WE'D NEVER KNOW deliberately, light and divinity stood aloof while darkness and evil plucked her fruit, shredded her leaves, crushed her flowers, separated her root from earth's hold: what was lost was not a child, but innocence and humaneness. mankind could only burst tear ducts, embalm her remains, like starving babies wail, be clad in black in a million march, hum requiems, trend hashtags, wear long faces and become rhetorical: mankind, where were we before now? #365DaysOfPoetry #Pengician #SSA Enjoyed reading? For Tydale | Stefn Sylvester Anyatonwu

POEM 305: FOR TYDALE beads encircle the waist of mother earth, each bead spells Africa with a portrait of Tydale in between. at times she could be so cutting, wafting through a mangrove of men. pray tell, do you recall that pale, flat-chested girl who danced in the rain? you called her a floating dream but she became the lady muse of ebony, sitting on a crescent brighter than the blinding sunshine, shimmering southwards with the power of a thousand stars, yet comforting, yet warm, a glass of water, tumultuous like the ocean, sweeping shores with a powerful storm, and sailing lost ships with comforting words, yet still yet calm, like an hourglass, filled with unending wonder and curiosity, chiming silently to time's music, yearning for the unknown, and illumine enlightenment, yet wise, yet mystery, a vase of flowery goddess eyes so wide, so deep, filled with delicate roses, the power of her petals, open and close to conquer mighty warriors, yet fragrance, yet beau, a muse of ebony, ...

For The Girl Child | Stefn Sylvester Anyatonwu

POEM 282: GIRL CHILD (for the international day of the girl child) to star on her hero stages other than scar her beautiful what sin is it? to wish our girls what I wish our boys what sin is it? to sing same solemn songs to her, which we whisper to our boys what sin is it? to pray the sun into her moon and equal her pink with our blue what sin is it? to remind our boys she's human before a girl what sin is it? to enhance her voice and not shadow her existence what sin is it? #365DaysOfPoetry #Pengician #SSA Enjoyed reading? Night Is A Woman | Chukwu, Emmanuel C

NIGHT IS A WOMAN Sometimes, you may not understand, Why you wake up to a familiar touch, Yet having no memory of falling asleep. You're asking your mother of this warmth when, You seek after this woman. Today, she is with you and in you; wearing black, You're leaving your house and, Moving outside your body to search for her. You're trying to figure this colour which, Hides this woman from you. You may call her an illusion for, The many facets she has. You spell her name in dreams just, Like your father who wore this woman in love. This woman holds stillness in her voice, And in her arms you live in a still form, Just the way you crave your mother. Night is no doubt a woman who, Speaks of God in his goodness, And you are her child, Tracing this Psalms in your body. - Chukwu, Emmanuel.  A Nigerian, poet and a medic who uses his writing to care for humanity Enjoyed reading? Black Beauty of Africa - Odigili Henry

This is a poem written in admiration of  woman, a masterpiece of God creative work and a real symbol of black beauty. The writer was inspired by her beauty and the diligence of every black beauty of Africa. He is dedicating this poem to all women pursuing Godly lifestyles. BLACK BEAUTY OF AFRICA In your pictorial image I grow The gentleness of your face i gazed upon Black beauty of Africa you have given colour to the world! Among other women you are a symbol of royalty and fairness Behold i have seen the black beauty of Africa I hope you see her someday Her eyes are virtue’s steady and holy mark Her speech counts slow and steady She's a symbol of solid foundation of life Intelligence glows round her face Wisdom glows all round her cheek Smartness glows round her smile She is the mother of calculation She is a strong partner to man's decisions She plays a vital part of the completion of Christianity Within her, Grace is confined And her faith in God is real Pureness in her hear...

Of Misogyny and Whatever | Stefn Sylvester Anyatonwu

POEM 170: OF MISOGYNY AND WHATEVER In the world of man, the other has no say, It's an ancient ritual, she bears the blame. Wasn't Eden immaculate before she splashed the stain? So he stands saint like a paradox of pain! From faith, to fear, to what she should She's made to believe to be God's afterthought. They point her to man-made Talmud and smear history on her face like sooth to clay pot. Is she destined to live in denial of her existence? Why lock her in a cage of your own pretense? Why tongue-cheeky powwow and knot your front tails into a bow? She's a being equal! Not licked up from the ground of God's afterthought! She's a soul equal! Not a stain on your bloated ego! She's equal! Not a blight in your dim eyes! She's equal! Not a threat to your clay throne! She's equal! ...let that sink, man.  😂 #365DaysOfPoetry #Pengician #SSA Click HERE to Download SSA mobile app for Android Phones and get instant access to poems, writing tools and Po...

Phoetry | For Ude Ugo

For Ude Ugo Let the mirror tell of thine beautiful soul and not thine veiled visage Stand where true reflections sets thee above old wives tales about thee. Hear it when the harp in thy sad footfalls joins the orchestra of nature at the stream side. In mud, on marble Be spent on this quest to find true reflections wherever little lady Wherever! - Martins Deep Enjoyed reading? Phoetry | For AJ Uyo

For AJ Uyo Be still though thy tears Tries to flood thee away Kneel in the clay, pray away thine cares Knead thy troubles into a lay. Say to thyself before a looking glass "I shall trust the winds with my darned mast" If thou weepest in sorrow to part Know thee thine eyes only fed of the fire in thy heart. Thou art lovesome Be not moved if thou art looked upon as a worm. - Martins Deep Enjoyed reading? Please help my blog grow by leaving a comment and sharing with friends. Thank you!

Phoetry | For Yetunde Morenikeji

For Yetunde Morenikeji  I can tell, so tell your hands are weary from holding swords that it cannot hold the pen to write your story Fret no more for I found all that's unwritten in a manuscript with your name not on papyrus, parchment nor papers but upon hearts of men told by their tears when I'm asked "Do angels have scars, for we saw one that led us from the valleys?" - Martins Deep Enjoyed reading? Phoetry | For Gloria Obi Etim

For Gloria Obi Etim You are not feeble though you cannot fly where destiny calls now. You're strong keeping the picture in your mind the blessed season will sort out from the dust when it rides by in the winds in the eyes of the world. Sceptres were first ploughs my beloved Look back not but only with a grateful heart Striving against the voices that boo you down with reasons to poison your precious dreams. Sweat may be all the wine you might drink and tears the words spoken Still hold on Still hold on - Martins Deep Enjoyed reading? Phoetry | For Oluwafunmilayo Ojeniyi

For Oluwafunmilayo Ojeniyi Is it not from the blood of a bleeding soul the balm is found? Know you not to be a jar of Gilead's balm thou must be cracked? The breath to the dying The shoulders for the weeping The hope to the sighing The truth to the one caught in the web of lies. How long will you hide your story- even this bandage that is deeply crimson? O that tears will not veil your eyes my beloved! - Martins Deep Enjoyed reading? Phoetry | For Okoro Hannah Ozioma

For Okoro Hannah Ozioma Real fiends, fake friends Real thorns, false roses. Would one tell truly thy tale if it were inked by thine tears? When thine heart gets sick of poetry in the sky With thine head down write a lyric on the earth for heaven to sing over you "Love will find the broken Wherever As the flood upon every dry land" - Martins Deep Enjoyed reading?
