Update: You're Loved & You Belong Here

Update: 'You're Loved & You Belong Here' While we all feel sad, moody or low from time to time, some people experience these feelings intensely, for long periods of time (weeks, months or even years) and sometimes without any apparent reason. Depression is more than just a low mood – it's a serious condition that affects your physical and mental health. Naturally, humans desire to be loved, appreciated and even crave validation from loved ones, but not all seem to get this desire evenly satisfied. We feel unloved, unwanted, less human, inferior, sad, hurt, rejected, dejected and eventually, suicidal.  This book is a collection of letters, articles and daily musings that serves as a reminder to you, who’s emotionally bruised that You Are Loved, And You Belong Here. because melancholic, a poem

because melancholic these thoughts make me think of a time before the coital pleasure of two jolted me from a still state of nothingness to this ever spinning ball of madness overwhelms my frail grip on hope if now these thoughts tilt towards death do not make me feel guilty for feeling sad this darkness which blanks my mind drips like weeping clouds on the rusty roof of my tongue and words that magnify dirges come rolling off my lips as I say a prayer to deaf gods who delight in burning my soul on the livid pages of immoral desires if now this darkness tilt towards death do not make me feel guilty for feeling sad lest i walk through a graveyard and find refuge in my future funeral this thought this darkness pray tell, what doth my pen scribble? sighs #Pengician  #JaachiWrites

this is how they become the water that sink their boats

this is how they become the water that sink their boats everyone was happy, she was the only sad one, a stroll to the market no negotiation needed she bought, made a knot and dangled lifeless before dawn loved ones had to untie both ends of the rope and live with the tragedy he can't trace the source of his sadness none could tell why he yells all night and slap the walls of his room "he kills mosquitoes all night" gossips the neighborhood but he is haunted by the trauma of yesterdays and none would reach out and touch his trembling hands so he pulled the trigger of his sniper and laid silently still beneath his duvet listening as the voices in his head slowly fade away with his last breathe. #SniperNoBeWine #WeShallFindJoy #Pengician #SSA Enjoyed reading? Sunday Musing || When It feels Like God's On Leave

“Rejoice in the Lord always.”  Philippians 4:4 Through the above quoted five words, God shows us that internal joy cannot be tied to external circumstances. When one is unemployed, when flaws are exposed, and when most meaningful relationships were broken or dysfunctional, God reminds us that joy in the Lord is still possible. God does not cruelly tell us to put a smile on our face no matter the pain in our hearts. Rather, Philippians 4:4 reminds us that no matter what is happening around us, we can still have immense joy because God, not our circumstances, is the source of all joy. “Rejoice no matter what” and “Rejoice in the Lord always” are two very different imperatives. God never tells us simply to rejoice no matter what. He tells us to rejoice in him no matter what. Yet, There are times when the soul feels alienated from the Giver of life and a son feels like a bastard orphan, poor and depressed.  Philippians 4:4 loses it's meaning. No joy. Not even in the Lord.  Y...

Depression, a duet by Stefn Sylvester Anyatonwu and Bro Chines

DEPRESSION (a reminder to the depressed: You're loved and you belong here) I could tell, from the texture of her voice, that sadness is resident in her core: Not one word could boast of silk, but coarse like alligator skin crawling closer to the call of the sea I could by merely looking at his eyes tell.  How drowned his soul is in the ocean of pain No matter how excited his appearance look Pain and sadness looms over him.  Even his eyes betrays him But, love lives down the lane there where we walk briskly by In long handshakes and hugs In the normal reply, "I'm Fine" it's the wind saying 'you're loved and you belong here' The eyes of those you inspire,  Beckoning on you to move on The silenced whose voices you echoed would you leave them voiceless? I know the other world is better But you color the canvas of earth so bright Over there, you could rest forever, true that, but here you dot our darkness with stars You make the world amazing And your prese...

SMH | Stefn Sylvester Anyatonwu

POEM 363: SMH To the secrets entombed in frozen time and the symphony of dirges we mime To the feelings we couldn't bear but consumed in bottles of beer To the ill thoughts that bloomed in hearts that are oasis of doom To many enemies groomed by actions assumed To hatred resumed by stereotypes exhumed To laughter's muffled  and wails stifled To truths we choose not to see and lies taken far too lightly To many lost to depression and the majority that cast aspersion I shake my head in shame,  and pity,  and sympathy,  #365DaysOfPoetry #Pengician #SSA Enjoyed reading? Nobody Cares | Stefn Sylvester Anyatonwu

POEM 362: NOBODY CARES Eyes watching and ears listening Ideals capsizing and ideas conspiring Thoughts sinking and dreams drowning: Drops fallen and dusts rising Hearts broken and love forsaken Time fleeting and hopes beaten Foundations shaken and promises broken Questions asked and answers hidden Souls scared and faces masked Limbs amputated and hands hanging Poets lonely and people forgotten Cheap are the words said Costly are the price paid Walls raised and boundaries laid Faux rules made and reality faked The list goes on and on the truth we hoard and the lies we flaunt the depressed we condemn  the guiltless we blame humanity is mad Aye! Of Depression And Suicide | Stefn Sylvester Anyatonwu

POEM 357: long walk to nowhere lost wars to no one lung worn by frostbites boxed by his own fears and after a long stare at shooting stars Bolade shut his aching eyes calling on dead gods like a dying priest dangling from his rope destination reached: his fears conquered in the cold hands of death #365DaysOfPoetry #Pengician #SSA Enjoyed reading? eBook: You're Loved And You Belong Here by Stefn Sylvester Anyatonwu

Depression is real. On daily basis, many take their lives to escape from the hurt and frustration that colour their lives in ugly shades of grey. Naturally, humans desire to be loved, appreciated and even crave validation from loved ones, but not all seem to get this desire evenly satisfied. Subtly, love-starved souls slip into depressed moods, from a distance, they watch love and acceptance fly past them into the arms of neighbours, colleagues, siblings, relatives, friends... but none ever rings their bell. They feel unloved, unwanted, less human, inferior, sad, hurt, rejected, dejected and eventually, suicidal. I Was There All The Time

POEM 59: I WAS THERE ALL THE TIME It's been a while,  oh daughter of lights You've been searching for peace  in some void. Woods with the hunter forest boy Desert with a peasant Arabian boy Glaciers with a savage Eskimo You've searched in seasons harsh You've searched in seasons mild Nothing found Void still spans... But I was there all the time Waiting in line. Then and now,  oh Lady of lights You've been trying to blame all your ills on this crazy world you're in. Groans for moans Forced smiles and honest cries. Selfish, your desires are Surface deep, your eyes are Searching in shallow highs Treasures that layers below hides. Nothing found Void still spans... But I was there all the time Waiting in line. See how pale you look Oh lady of lights You've been used And taken for a ride These tears that now crawl From your eyes to my eardrum Would've ne'er break you If only you knew I was there all the time Waiting in line. Patiently Silently  I prayed y...

Di Fronte Alle Tue Paure (Facing My Own Fears)

POEM 47:  Di Fronte Alle Tue Paure (Facing My Own Fears) I told them to face their fears. They did and won.  Now I'm faced by my fears  I turn around and run.  I told them to embrace their demons They did and made peace. Now I'm visited by my own demons  I fight them and then flee.  I told them to take risks by the horn  They did and reaped bountiful yields.  Now I'm challenged by love  I hide like tares in a wheat field.  Don't laugh at my cowardice Nor mock my many fears  Look in the mirror and you'll find  The nay in your every yes.  #365DaysOfPoetry #Pengician #SSA

Saved From Life

Yesterday, I broke out of my shell of silence. I spoke to her. She laid bare her heart like a baby, she purred her pains on me she poured. Yesterday, I was her god In me was found salvation. Yesterday, I saw beyond that smile that lures every passerby. I saw wrinkled emotions I saw rheumatic lines I saw death, dirge, dust. Yesterday,  I lent a shoulder to a broken heart Every tear Pierced my ears... Every sigh Stole my smiles. Yesterday, I felt better for splashing a hue brighter on her fiend smiles. Today,  I regret not holding her hands not leading her to Christ -  the source of laughter ever after. Today, She died Dangling from the ceiling Smiling Free at last. #Pengician #SSA

Sneak Peak: You Are Loved And You Belong Here

Lasting love has no boundaries or limitations. It seeks no reward for thriving in the imperfect nature of humanity, that which makes all of our personal connections so vastly unique. Real love triumphs over the most dangerous of evils; those that exist inside each and every one of us. The intricacies of who are intertwine with those we pull deeply into our lives. Our strengths and weaknesses lie naked and vulnerable to the people we love enough to show them to. Falling in love is letting go. It’s understanding that you’re worthy of being loved for the totality of who you are and capable of loving another in that same way. Mental illness is unique. It manifests itself in a multitude of ways. It plays no favorites, chooses no sides and runs from no one. It lives inside some of the people we all love. Throughout their lives, they’ve attacked it, tried to reason with it and searched tirelessly for freedom from the moments it has plagued. They’ve sought out love and found that some pieces o...
